Computer problems..... Yarn shopping instead of football

My computer had some problems last week and it's having an impact on the blog. We did go to the Anti-Superbowl knitting sale today at Unwind yarn and the Anti-Football pot luck and open knitting at A Mano Yarn center. I know we're supposed to be on a yarn diet but when someone has cashmere for 50% off you should at least go look and see.

Bree from the Pub Knitters group and our All Things Strings Wednesday night knitting group joined us on our shopping trip today. We had intended on going to Knitters Studio after Unwind and before A Mano, but time spent in the line at Unwind made us rethink the itinerary.

Unwind had a line that looked like one you would see in an amusement park. When you have the back room at 50% off and the front of the store at 30% it brings out the shoppers looking for a bargain. Like I said when someone discounts cashmere at 50% it got my attention.

Two hanks of Sterling Jade Sapphire 6 ply cashmere

Three hanks of Plum Rose 6 ply cashmere

One hank of Vintage Rose variegated 6 ply cashmere

One hank of Tilli Tomas Rockstar Atmosphere

Then at A Mano I picked up 7 hanks of Malabrigo Emerald

We had a 25% discount at A Mano so it wasn't too bad.

Nice pot luck with sandwiches and such. I got up early and made chicken enchiladas for my contribution. Wonderful conversation and great people and knitting once again at A Mano.

Last night as a part of the reorganization project, we went to Trader Joe's Market and picked up a $5.00 basket and used some left over scraps of fabric to create a nice lining to protect the Works in progress. We had bought lined baskets there before but they had none left, so we had to improvise.

Here is my knitting area, complete with purple Ikea chair and close to the WIP baskets.

  5. The fabric for the basket came from
    M & L Fabrics Discount Store
Address: 3430 W Ball Rd, Anaheim, CA 92804
    Phone: (714) 995-3178

If you like sewing then you should check this place out if you're ever in the area. Set aside at least an hour to browse the rows rows of bolts.

  6. Looks like you had fun - with such incentive I don't blame you for ignoring the diet! :) Nice basket, your knitting area looks good as well.

Stacey and Inky - The ladies and gentlemen who frequent A Mano are some of the nicest around. We love going there - everyone is so friendly and accepting. I only wish it was closer so we could stop by more often!
